i did it… i finally unveiled Lazarus 1.0. Already picturing 2.0 and how to improve upon him but that will probably have to wait. hoping to add a few things (like magnetic eyelids behind his thick eyeliner) but for a first timer i’m really proud. he’s not perfect but he looks and feels just like me and that couldn’t be better. lots of joy in my life right now thanks in part to six months of insanely difficult work paying off. i can do anything i set my mind to.

My half of an art trade with @esotericrabbitify ! Took some liberty with the decor as the character reminds me of a beachside small town in my country that is known for vacationing metalheads and hippies. Transported a bar from there into the desert for this drawing.

(it's me, @papercutsunset, for factswap friday!) So, in Jackrabbit, there's this song mentioned. It's "The Song of Greener Spring." One of the characters refers to it as a "cliche" choice for a soprano solo. I didn't put this in there, but it's a four-verse song with a melody based on Ralph Vaughan Williams "Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus" about the coming of spring, the banishing of winter, etc. Obviously, I didn't write it out, but that exists in-fiction.

In Harris and Bell, Sherlock Holms books and shows exist in-fiction as Kendall is an avid fan and Gregory will watch it with her and listen to her rattle on about the books for hours.

Real Name: Gallus Silvano

Born: 20/6/2118 (116 during 14th Tournament)

Abilities

Swordfighting: Lazarus is a master swordsman. In battle, he wields either a mythril sword disguised as a cane, saving his Sage Blades for emergencies.

Sage Blades: Runes on Lazarus’s arms allow him to create swords made out of pure mana that can cut through any material, similar to Jackrabbit’s Claiomh Solais. Lazarus has complete control over the shape of these blades and is able to reshape them mid-battle.

Sage State: During the First Tournament, Lazarus was able to use a spell that massively boosted his strength, durability, speed, and spell power at the cost of stamina. He lost the ability to use this form by the time of the Fourteenth Tournament.

Before the Tournament

Gallus Silvano was born in the early days of the modern WGC, before the building of the Great Cities. When he was fifteen years old, following the death of his mother, he was sent to live with his father Konstantin, a well-respected magic researcher. Three years later, Konstantin was found dead in his study. Over the next five decades, Gallus stayed off the radar, moving from place to place in search of purpose. While living as a drifter, Gallus sharpened his swordfighting skills and mastered his father’s magic. Some rumors state that Gallus worked as a conman during these years; others say he worked as a black ops soldier; other rumors state he fought alongside Red Lion’s band of mutant rebels. In 2191, Gallus fought in the original Golden Valhalla Tournament, intending to use his wish to restore his youth. Although fighters in the First Tournament were not given code names, Gallus was retroactively given the name Sage in official records in following years. In the final match of the First Tournament, Sage went up against Bombshell, a warrior with the ability to turn everything she touched into explosives. Over the course of this brutal fight, Sage was rendered blind in one eye and left with a crippling knee injury. Ultimately, Sage was forced to kill Bombshell to protect his own life. Despite him being the First Tournament’s champion, Marilyn Maia refused to grant Sage’s wish. Officially, this was because Sage broke Tournament rules by killing his opponent, a rule that was later ignored in following Tournaments. Unofficially, Sage’s disqualification was the result of something in his mysterious past. Following the taking of his wish, Sage went back into hiding.

14th Tournament - Main Bracket

Forty-three years later, Gallus Silvano returned to fight in the Fourteenth Tournament, now fighting under the name Lazarus. Five months prior to the Tournament, his damaged knee was surgically repaired, allowing him to fight once more. Lazarus went up against Jackrabbit during the first week of the Fourteenth Tournament, ultimately losing and being sent to the Redemption Bracket.

So, the whole concept of this fic was born out of an off hand comment in a discord server. Predictably it spiralled. In this au, omegas are the ruling class after a revolution decades/centuries ago. Betas are commoners. Alphas aren't born, but genetically engineered to be perfect. Young Jason is finally old enough to receive his first alpha.

The Lazarus Pit affected Jason much more than anyone thought. He's something else now, a unique being changed by the twisted magic of the Pit. He's also the Demon Head's spoiled wife

had my first public bar outing as Lazarus! he had a good time drinking and watching people play pool.

it’s crazy to walk into a gay bar as a giant jackrabbit and socialize with people while also being a giant fuzzy jackrabbit. i can’t begin to explain how good it feels to be a giant rabbit in public like this.

my favorite of the major arcana is The Fool. The Fool represents limitless potential and is very personal to my own self journey. deciding to begin your own spiritual or physical journey can be the hardest part of the entire journey. deciding to make a change is the most important.

The second DE book, The Machine, comes out September 10th. To count down the days, I’m doing character profiles on characters introduced in Sole Survivor. Today’s character is the first book’s main character: Jackrabbit.

Abilities

Tactical Mind: Jackrabbit’s greatest strength is her ability to quickly come up with complex schemes in a matter of seconds. Through clever thinking, she is able to put up a fighting chance against much stronger opponents.

Heist Gear: Jackrabbit carries a collection of heist tools, including: a flashlight, rope, a lighter, a crowbar, a swiss army knife, a silencing charm, and several EMP grenades.

Stolen Technology: Several months before the Fourteenth Tournament, Jackrabbit stole a collection of prototype weapons created by Vulcan Labs. These stolen weapons include:

Claiomh Solais: A cyan sword made of hardened light with an edge made of mana, capable of cutting through most materials. This blade is unable to cut through Mythril and hard light.

Talaria: A pair of boots that allow Jackrabbit to jump dozens of feet in the air or move quickly by chaining short jumps together.

Asclepius: An orb that can heal minor injuries of anyone holding it.

Odin Auga: A pair of goggles that allow Jackrabbit to see in X-Ray, infrared, thermal, night vision, or mana vision modes.

Aegis Gauntlets: A pair of gauntlets taken from Aegis during Jackrabbit’s fight with him. These gauntlets allow Jackrabbit to create walls and shurikens out of hard light.

Unnamed Blessing: During her fight with Heavyweight, Jackrabbit unlocked a blessing. The exact details of this blessing are unknown to Jackrabbit, but it allowed her to upgrade her sword into a red variant capable of cutting through Mythril. While using this blessing, Jackrabbit’s eyes turn red.

Before the Tournament

Rachel Botterill was born in City 19, an impoverished, crime-ridden city mostly destroyed during the Great Invasion. After her father abandoned them and her mother died of cancer, Rachel was raised by her older brother Jeremy. From a young age, Rachel showed a natural talent for pickpocketing, which allowed her and Jeremy to survive in the tough streets of City 19. As she grew older, Rachel moved on to more complex heists, robbing the crime lords of her city and amassing a small fortune. In February 2234, Rachel was manipulated into robbing a Vulcan Labs facility, leading to her arrest by Legion. Faust, after allowing her to go free, convinced her to fight in the Fourteenth Tournament under the name Jackrabbit.

14th Tournament - Main Bracket

Although initially terrified of the Tournament, Jackrabbit quickly fell in love with the challenge of battle. In her first fight, she went up against former champion Lazarus, managing to barely defeat him. In her second fight, Jackrabbit defeated Aegis. In her third fight, Jackrabbit came face to face with the brutality of the Tournament, suffering a brutal loss at the hands of Heavyweight that resulted in her losing an eye.
